『RRR』を見て : 映画の感想 Watched RRR : Movie Impression
『RRR』 監督 S・S・ラージャマウリ 主演 N・T・ラーマ・ラオ・ジュニア、ラーム・チャラン
今回は映画の話です。圧倒的に凄い映画を見た。
インド・ボリウッド映画の『RRR』である。
以下、ネタバレに注意しながら映画の紹介をしていく。
本作は是非とも映画館の大画面で見るべき作品だ。スマートフォンやコンピュータ
ーの画面では、この映画を本当に見たことにはならない。ＹｏｕＴｕｂｅでいくつ
か予告編を見たが、映画館での印象とは、かなり違う。スクリーンで見るワクワク
感は小さな画面では減少してしまう。この映画を大画面で見ないのは大きな損失で
ある。
とんでもないアクションシーンが次から次へと続いていく。巨大なハンマーが全力
で振り下ろされるような衝撃の映像が連続する。圧巻の映像体験に３時間近い上映
時間は怒涛のごとく過ぎていく。二人の主人公のアクションシーンがとにかくカッ
コイイ。前半のクライマックスのパーティー会場での大アクションは最高の見どこ
ろの一つだ。しかし本作品は単純なアクションだけの映画ではない。複雑な背景が
物語をより深いものにしていく。
二人の主人公の友情と葛藤を大きな軸にして、インド独立という大義、家族の愛情
が描かれている。シリアスなだけではなくコメディやミュージカルの要素も含んだ
感動と涙と笑いの作品である。
ボリウッド映画は、歌って、踊って、泣いて、戦って、ハラハラして、感動すると
いう映画の様々な要素を、ごった煮のようにまとめたものである。このごった煮の
作品全体を二人の魅力的な主人公が柱となって貫いている。
このボリウッド映画の特徴が本作品では非常に有利に働いている。二人の主人公を
描くことが映画の第一の中心テーマでストーリーの筋道が通っていることは大した
ことではない。映画は自由に展開することができるのだ。細かなことに、こだわる
のではなく映画全体を楽しむ。そんな空気感が作品を貫いている。とにかく楽しめ
ばよいのだ。
少し前に『アバター：ウェイ・オブ・ウォーター』見た。それと比較してハリウッ
ド映画が、今後こんなにも骨太の作品を作ることは、もう不可能だと思った。
『アバター２』では映画のテーマが「家族が一番大切」という非常に浅いものにな
ってしまっている。ＣＧの映像は素晴らしいが中身がないのだ。惑星パンドラの原
住民と自然と地球人類の葛藤といった大きなテーマは可能なはずなのに、矮小な家
族の物語に終始している。ポリティカルコレクトネスをはじめとした多くの制限が
アメリカ映画界には存在し、自由な映画製作が出来なくなっている。
アメリカの人々は、みんなが共感できるテーマを探しているが、今では「家族愛」
しか残っていない。ある正義には必ず強烈な反対意見が存在する。それぞれが全く
異なる価値観を持っていて分かり合えることはない。それが現在のアメリカなのだ。
アメリカには共通の正義はもはや存在しないのだ。
一方、『RRR』は家族や友達や部族といった小さな連帯とインド独立という大義が
葛藤する物語になっている。インドを支配するイギリスへの怒りは、単純にイギリ
ス人への憎悪ではない。抑圧された全ての人々が、その理不尽に立ち上がるのであ
る。これは全世界的に共通するテーマである。自分達を抑圧している存在がはっき
りしていて、それと戦うための中心が確固としたものならば人々は立ち上がること
が出来る。インドには、まだナショナリズムという共通の正義が存在していて、そ
れを世界に問うことが出来るほど素直な気持ちが生きている。先進国から見ると、
うらやましいかぎりである。
ハリウッドが終わり、ボリウッドがやって来る。欧米の時代が終わりアジアの時代
がやって来る。この作品はそんな時代の流れを象徴しているのだろう。

This story is about a movie. I saw an overwhelmingly great movie. It’s a Bollywood movie called “RRR".
I will introduce the movie with beware of spoilers.
This is a film that should be seen on a big screen in a cinema. You won’t really have seen this movie if you watch it on a small screen like a smartphone or computer. I have seen some trailers on YouTube, but it’s very different from watching it in a cinema. The excitement of a big screen is lost on a small screen. Not watching this movie on a big screen is a huge loss.
The movie has amazing action scenes one after another. It’s full of powerful images like a massive hammer being swung with all its might. The three-hour-long screening passes with a storm of excitement. The action scenes of the two main characters are awesome cool. The big action scene in the first half of the climax at the party venue is one of the best things to watch. However, this is not just a simple action movie. The complex background makes the story deeper.
The main theme is friendship and conflict of two protagonists. And India’s independence movement and family love are expressed in it too. It is a work that combines serious elements with comedy and musical elements. It gives the audience a mix of emotions such as tears, laughter, and impressed.
Bollywood movies are known for combining different elements like singing, dancing, crying, fighting, suspense, and inspiration, all in one. In this movie, this mix is held together by the two charming protagonists.
The characteristic of Bollywood movies work in this film as big advantage. The first central theme of the movie is the portrayal of the two protagonists. The plot of story is not so important. The movie has the freedom to unfold freely. And the audience can enjoy the movie as a whole, not focusing on the small details. This atmosphere permeates the work. The most important thing is to have fun.
I recently watched “Avatar: Way of Water." I will compare both movies. I think that Hollywood movies will not be able to make such substantial works as “RRR" no longer.
The theme of “Avatar 2" is superficial: family being the most important thing. The Computer Graphics images are great, but there’s nothing inside. It could have tackled a big theme like the conflict between the natives of the planet Pandora, nature, and humanity. However, it sticks to a petty family story. There are many restrictions in the American film industry, such as political correctness. And it has become difficult to make a film freely.
Americans are looking for a subject everyone can sympathize with, but now they’re left with only “family love." For every righteousness, there is always a strong opposing view. People have different values and cannot understand each other. That’s America today. There is no more common righteousness in America.
On the other hand, “RRR" is a story of conflicting small ties like family, friends, and tribe, and the big subject of Indian independence. The anger against the British who ruled India is not just hatred of the British. All oppressed people rise up against the unjust. This is a common theme throughout the world. When there is a clear presence of oppression and a solid center to fight against it, people can rise up. In India, there is still a common righteousness called nationalism and a sincere feeling that can propose it to the world. From the point of view of developed countries, it is envied.
Hollywood is going and Bollywood is coming. The era of Western Europe and the United States is ending and the era of Asia is coming. This work symbolizes such a trend of the times.
